Witam, Calafia!
This year has started off right. 12th Night was great, including one of the best feasts that we have ever been to, with Their Graces Guillaume & Felinah providing entertainment and education between removes. I had fun at Angels Melee amongst the rapier fighters that took the field. And Kate & I watched as the unbelted fighters of this Kingdom display their prowess at Gyldenholt’s Unbelted Tourney.
We are looking to our first Baronial event of the year, which is also one of our favorites - the In-Sand-ity tourney in Pol Na Gainmhe. This event is always fun; filled with good food, good people, and a good excuse to play croquette.
Then it's off to War!
Estrella comes early this year, and we hope that you will be able to participate. Between the fighting, merchants, dog coursing, arts, drinking & singing, archery, classes and equestrian amongst the rest, there is sure to be something to fill your days, and nights, with enough to keep you occupied for the course of the war.
After everyone has returned home, stored away the war gear and shaken the dust of war from their feet, Calafia will be sponsoring Her Majesty’s Festival of the Rose. Please make a point to attend & display your artistic talents for Her Majesty to enjoy. We have a Calafian Queen, so I expect every artist in the Barony, regardless of skill level, to show the rest of the Kingdom what Calafians are capable of.
In March we will be traveling up to the Shire of Isles for Crown Tourney to witness the rite of succession for the Kingdom. We will also host the Calafia/Gyldenholt Friendship Tourney this year, so our Cousins will be traveling down to visit us and share the day.
Enjoy what the year brings & keep your loved ones close.

The SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) is a not-for-profit, educational, and historical organization
dedicated to reliving and recreating the Middle Ages, as they should have been, from approximately the latter Roman era to
1650 A.D. We seek to learn about the beauty and chivalry of our past and to share with others the wonders of medieval
Europe. We re-create the fun parts, like the feasts, costumes & sword fighting...
...but leave out the parts like plagues,
lice and beheadings!
The society is divided into kingdoms and the kingdoms are subdivided into baronies based on geographic location.
Calafia is one of the founding baronies in Kingdom of Caid located in Southern California
and comprises San Diego and
Imperial counties.
