Arts Competition Entries:
All artisans of the barony, whether new to a craft or a master, whether adult or youth, are called to display their talents. Only pieces that have been made since last year's Winter Arts Festival will be eligible for the choosing of the Arts Champion of Calafia and the Youth Arts Champion. Pieces made in years past may also be displayed to show the scope of the artist's work. The Arts Champions will be decided by tallying the number of tokens left in homage to the items crafted this year.
We will be showcasing barional guilds as well. If you wish to have a guild display, are interested in teaching a class or you wish display your arts (or science), Please contact, Lady Abigail Chandler of Caithness at winterartsdisplay@Calafia.org for space reservation. Works without reservations will be showcased on a space available basis. These classes are all part of your gate fee! Lady Abigail is working hard to put together a really fun set of adult class. | Glass painting | Kendryth | Northern Room | 11:30am-12:30pm | Learn to paint on glass in a method that looks like stained glass. Each student will get to take home a bottle they paint themselves-limit 10 Students must be 13 or older. |

| Huck Weaving Bookmarks | Adelicia | Northern room | 12:30pm-1:30pm | Huck weaving , also known as Swedish Weaving is an easy and fun method of decoration. We will be weaving bookmarks. These make a great gift and are easy to do. Limit-10 students must be 13 or older. |

| Arrow Making | Suzanne | outside mezzanine | 2:30-4pm | Archers who wish to learn to make their own arrows may bring shafts, fletches, points, and nocks to class with them. The archery staff will help you cut the shafts to the correct length for you, attach the fletching with our fletching jigs, and glue on the nocks and points with the appropriate glues. Youth Classes:
Youth Point Classes for Winter Arts will be starting after Opening Court until Lunch at 2pm.
Cookie Castles: We are going to be taking ordinary Graham Crackers, yummy candy of all kinds along with frosting and building Cookies Castles! Children under 8 will need an adult to assist in the construction of the castles. Please bring an apron or t-shirt to cover garb since this could be a tasty but messy craft.
Stained Glass/Rose Windows: This is a coloured tissue paper craft where we are going to be making ornaments that you can hang in your window or Christmas Tree. We will be using paper frames, coloured tissue and ordinary white glue to make these wondrous decorations. Children under 8 will need an adult to assist them in the cutting portion of this craft.
Mini Marshmallow/Marshmallow Castle Building Contest: We will be supplying mini-marshmallow and regular size marshmallows, wooden skewers and toothpicks, glue,,,or you could chose to use the frosting from the cookie castles (if any is left and you are thinking on eating your creation after). The object of this contest will be to build the most amazing and artful marshmallow castle! Children under 8 can have the assistance of a childish adult for this task. The winner will receive a prize.

Mid-day Repast
We will be serving a German themed meal around 2 P.M. Seating is limited, so a reservation is advised. There will be a feast fee of $6.

dessert: pear tart

Wreath & Arts Drawings
As part of general fundraising for the event, we will be hosting a Holiday Wreath Drawing and an Arts Drawing. Tickets are $1/apiece or 6/$5. Wreaths will be decorated by members of the Barony and winners will be drawn just before our mid-day repast. Arts will be donated by artisans of the Barony and winners will be drawn just before closing court.
Note: Bring small return-address stickers for your drawing tickets!
Becky's House, a domestic violence shelter for women and children, is in
need of a lot of items to help their program participants. This year they would be
pleased to receive NEW :

Toys for Tots - Each year the United States Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR)
conducts the "Toys for Tots" Program, which collects and distributes toys at
Christmas time to needy children. Their goal is to enrich the lives of culturally and
economically deprived children. Please bring a new, unwrapped gift.
Note: Gifts for teens are especially needed.
