The Chirurgeon's GuildThe Baronial Council meets every month on the third Wednesday at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center. The meeting starts at 7pm.
The Baronial Household is the personal household of the Baron and Baroness of Calafia., and is designed for those new to the Barony or the SCA.
Established by Talanque, Baron Calafia, and Rowan Lynn, Baroness Calafia, the first Mentor of the Menage (M.O.M.) was Dame Elinore Windemere of the Moors. The Household was instituted as a way for members of the populace to familiarize themselves with the SCA, the Kingdom of Caid and the Barony of Calafia.
Members of the household attend meetings on a monthly basis to learn what we do and how we do it. It is a household of finite membership (most members attend for 6 to 12 months) but anyone is welcome to come to a discussion of any area of interest they have not yet explored.
Everyone is welcome to attend Baronial Household even if you have been around awhile.

The Company of St. Catherine (Spinning/Weaving/All Things String)The Company of St. Catherine is a baronial guild dedicated to the fiber arts. We spin, weave, knit, and do most anything that involves string. Our meetings are on the fourth Sunday of the month, beginning at noon, at the home of the guildmistress. The Calafian Outdoor Cooking Guild, where we can discuss and practice outdoor cooking using period techniques, ingredients and recipes. “Period style” and some non-period recipes may also be explored. We have compiled and do maintain a current list resource list for supplies and reference materials. We strive to be of service to the Barony of Calafia.
The Calafia Music Guild promotes the music of the European Renaissance and Medieval periods through instrumental and vocal performance and instruction. The guild enjoys perform early music for entertainment, including for dancing. The Calafian Pottery Guild provides a supportive organization for ceramic artists of all skill levels. They provide an opportunity to network and share knowledge and techniques through workshops, special events, and at Arts and Sciences displays. They provide populace awareness and appreciation for ceramic artists and their work. They promote period creation, education and high quality work among our members. We meet on the third Monday of the month at Allied Gardens Rec Center to recreate dances of the European Renaissance, including period dance sources from Italy, France, and Elizabethan England. Partners are not required, and all steps will be taught and called. All are welcome, from newcomers to longtime dance mavens. The Calafian Cooking guild is dedicated to teaching, researching and discussing period techniques, recipes, cooking styles and types of food available. We attempt to use period recipes or create recipes with ingredients that would have been available in the Middle Ages. Questions are welcome and if we don't have the answer we will try to find it! What's a Cordwainer? A Cordwainer is the medieval name for a shoe maker. The name comes from the rich leathers available only from Spain, called Cordovan leather. The Calafian Cordwainers guild meetings are workshops where members can bring in projects to work on, learn new techniques or research new projects. Even if you're not sure what you want to do come on by and join the fun. Fighter, Archery,
and Rapier PracticesFighter Practices are held on Sundays from 12 noon to whenever people get tired, and Wednesdays from 6pm to sundown. They are held at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center. For further information, contact Sir Ashraf al-Mansur.
This new style has recently become a full authorized fighting form under the Marshallate. The guild continues to exist to assist in researching and teaching historically accurate unarmored combat techniques. Practices are currently held Tuesday night at 6:30pm on the UCSD campus. Target Archery Practices are held Sundays from 10am to Noon, and Tuesdays/Thursdays from 5:30pm until 7pm. They are held at the UCSD Archery range directly behind the ropes course adjacent to Parking Lot P702, across the street from the Preuss School. Beginners are welcome-we have loaner equipment and offer basic instruction.

From I-5 take the Genesee exit and go east. On Campus Pt. Rd. turn right (south). Turn right on Voigt Dr. As you pass Preuss School on the right, look for parking lot P702 on your left. Park in the far back right and follow the dirt path past the ropes course to the gates in the fence to the archery field. If you arrive after practice starts, the gates will be closed and you will need to walk around. Follow the signs. Parking is free on Sundays, but you will need to use metered spaces on weekdays unless you have a UCSD parking sticker. For more information, contact the Captain of Archers.

Directions to the Recreation Center: From Freeway 8 (East or West) take the Waring Rd. exit. You will go thru three stoplights, one just off the freeway and two after you crest the hill. At the fourth stoplight turn left onto Greenbrier Ave. The street dead-ends in the parking lot for Allied Gardens Rec. Center. The meetings generally will be in the room on the right hand side as you go in the main entrance of the rec center. (The main entrance faces the lawn area, not the parking lot)
